Here are the black and white freebies I made for VanCAF. I thought I’d put them online here, too. They will be able to be found under the ‘More’ section of the site, but I thought I’d share them with you all here, too. As you might have read in the VanCAF recap blog post, I wanted to give people something to remember me by. Something with some value. Based on Erika Moen’s advice, I made it a comics so that people would hopefully enjoy reading it and them come and check me out on my site or even at my booth!
It took my quite a while to figure out what I wanted to do for these. I’m no good at short stories! So from a friend’s suggestion I figured I’ll draw up sort of what happens moments before each story starts, a way to hook people and give an impression of each personality. Gilad with his unfolding destiny, and Clou with his strange philosophical outlook.
It was my first time using screentones in any capacity, and it was a ton of fun! I had a couple of people say they actually liked the screentones almost more than the color images! It does give it a certain cleanness and texture… And it took me forever to get the chrome look on the strange metal guy in Gilad’s story. O_o I’ve never done that before in black and white.
Hope you like!
