Started my new job this Tuesday (as Monday was Victoria Day here in Canada). Still unsure what I am to do, and not sure what people expect of me. I hope they like me! I really realy miss my old coworkers, even some of the people I didn’t think I’d miss. It’s probably just transition jitters, but I hope I get along with these new folk. The team is small, so if I don’t get along with them I don’t have anyone else to befriend.
VanCAF is at the end of this week, and I’m super excited and nervous! I won’t lie and say I won’t miss having a weekend to rest, but I am looking forward to my first convention as an exhibitor. If you’re in the area, come say hi! I’ll be at table C7 with an award winning artist, so you’ll be able to tell which one of us is the amateur quite easily!
I’ve gotten back into Bravely Default, and I should really have a review of it here on the site. It’s such a fantastic game! It’s a Final Fantasy in everything but name, so if you’re looking for a great classic-style RPG to play, choose this one.
My husband has been playing Tales of Xillia, and I have to say that I haven’t seen an RPG with so much heart and soul and depth and humor like this since the 90’s– since the likes of Final Fantasy VI or Xenogears. The characters are funny and relatable, the dialogue natural, their decisions interesting and motivated… I’ll put a fuller review online on another week.
I was talking to a person while I still in my previous job, and they had congratulated me on succeeding in bringing the comics to print, and updating in a timely fashion. I thanked him and said that while I did manage to do all that, I no longer have any other topics of conversation. I realized that pretty much 100% of my non-work time is taken up either by building the structure of the story in my head, writing it out or drawing it. I don’t mind it, personally, but it does make it a little harder to strike up conversations with my new co-workers.
I hope you’re having a great week! I’m still in the confused first week part. If you’re in the neighbourhood, come say hi to me at VanCAF!
